A budget card based on the SiS315E chipset. The original SiS315 came to market in October 2001 as a budget 3D-chip from SiS. In it's day it was priced around $50.

The SiS315 runs at 166MHz and is built on a 0.15 micron proces. It has 2 pixel pipelines and can apply 2 textures per pixel. I haven't benchmarked the SiS315 but I'd place the card between a low-cost Radeon VE and sometimes touching the GeForce2 MX200 performance levels. Both visual quality and driver compatibility probably won't reach the levels of the GeForce 2.

My card is fitted with the SiS315E. I'm not sure what the E stands for. Looking at the PCB and memory lay-out it might be an even more budget version of the SiS315. Also my card has been built in 2004 which places it in the Radeon X - GeForce 6 timeframe! Talking about budget... > Read more
